Lacloche Freres company formation – the first formation!
In 1890 Leopold Lacloche, the eldest brother, is living in Brussels and his occupation is jeweller, in 1891 he travelled to Paris and then returned to Brussels.
Incidentally in Nov 1890 a Mr Lacloche travelled with Mr Walewyk to Cape Town. This is obviously one of the ‘Brothers’ but without first names in the records its difficult to know which. Mr Walewyk is more easily identified as he is likely to be Jacques (Jacob) Walwwyk, a jeweller, who had married Bertha Lacloche (yes, sister of Lacloche Freres) in Brussels in 1876.
By 1892 Leopold and Jules Henri are both jewellers and on 15 Nov 1892 ‘Societe en nom collectif Lacloche Freres, bijouterie, at 51 Chateaudun Paris’, was formed.
Lacloche Freres was disolved on 31 May 1898. The address at the time was 41 Avenue Opera, Paris. As records show both Leopold and Jules Henri resident at Avenue Opera it is likely that this business consisted of these two freres.
The reason for the disolution in 1898 will become clear in following articles ….
